School Building

Since the borough purchased the Memorial Building and the School Building from Cambria Heights all of our efforts to date has been in upgrading the Memorial Building. These repairs are still ongoing. The present plans are to paint the bottom of the building and all new doors installed, finish replacing broken glass blocks, install a handicap ramp for basement access, install bathrooms and a water fountain in gym area, and replace drapes in the gym area. Hopefully these repairs have had a positive impact on the community.

At this time we are gathering information to update the school building. Our thoughts at present is to convert the school into 8 handicap accessible units of Senior citizen housing, install the police department in the basement area, the Borough office business area to 1st floor and to have a community access room for community events. With the help of NORCAM we have discussed our ideas with an architect to check prices and funding opportunities. Since we are in the starting stages any community participation would be greatly appreciated. Contact any council member.
